E-Giving FAQs

Q. What is E-Giving?

E-Giving is the ability to financially support GUMC through online donations using your computer, smart phone, or tablet.  Our E-Giving site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

Q. Do I have to register for an account to use E-Giving?

No.  You have the option to either donate online as a guest or to register for an account.  We highly recommend for members of GUMC to register for an account because by registering, you will be able to conveniently track your giving history online in real-time, which includes generating your yearly giving summary for use during tax time.  Also, once you register, you will be able to use other E-Giving services, such a Text Giving and Event Registration.

Q. Can I make recurring donations?

Yes.  You can make automatic recurring donations and you will have the flexibility to select the giving schedule that best fits your needs.  In addition, you will have the ability to start, stop, and adjust your donation amount or schedule at any time.  Remember: “Automate the Important!”

Q. Can I make one-time donations?

Yes.  In addition, if you are unsure if E-Giving is right for you, you can always try a one-time donation as either a guest or using your E-Giving account once you register.

Q. Are there any hidden fees or charges for using E-Giving?

No.  You decide how much you want to donate and the full amount will be recognized as your donation.

Q. Can I designate my donation for a particular church fund or ministry like I did on the paper giving envelopes for cash and check donations?
Yes.  All of our most common funds and ministries are listed on the E-Giving page.

Q. Will my E-Giving donations be included on my quarterly and yearly contribution statements?

Q. What methods of payment can I use to donate through E-Giving?

You can make donations through E-Giving using debit cards, credit cards, and direct checking account donations.  However, our service provider requires you to register for an account to make direct checking account donations.

Q. Can I make donations using a credit card?

Yes.  All major credit cards are accepted.  However, we strongly advise you to utilize good Christian personal finance practices.

Q. Do I need a computer to use E-Giving?

No.  You can use a smart phone, tablet, or any other device with Internet access.  In addition, once you register for an account online you can sign-up for the Text Giving feature.  See the next question for details on Text Giving.

Q. What is Text Giving and how does it work?

Text Giving is a free service you can use once you register for an E-Giving account.  To sign-up, select Text Giving in your E-Giving account profile and enter your cell phone number.  You will receive a confirmation email that you will respond to by texting "Y".  Afterwards, giving will be as easy as texting the words "EGIVE" and an amount to 41411 from your cell phone (e.g. Text EGIVE 20 to 41411 to donate $20).  With Text Giving you will have the ability to donate to GUMC anytime, anywhere using only your cell phone with no Internet access required.  If you are unsure if you are charged for sending/receiving text messages, please check with your cell phone carrier.

(Note: Text Giving is Currently Offline)

Q. Will my debit card, credit card, and/or checking account information be stored by the church?

No.  GUMC uses a renown E-Giving provider to allow us to provide this service.  Absolutely none of your payment information is stored or processed by GUMC.  Instead, all of your E-Giving donations are securely processed directly by our E-Giving provider on their secure servers.

Q. What if I have other questions?

Please contact the church office at 504-366-6685 or email our finance ministry at GretnaUMCfinancechair@gmail.com.  We’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have.  Additionally, our finance committee is available to provide individualized assistance as needed.
